What to expect with League of Legends new EMEA region
League of Legends is regarded as the pinnacle of professional gaming. Witness the new EMEA Championship circuit and embrace this exciting competition.
What to expect with League of Legends new EMEA region
League of Legends’ European region has always been a competitive circuit with the League of Legends European Championship (LEC). Now, the esports world continues to grow and other countries have teams and players who deserve the opportunity.
Riot Games combined the classic LEC with teams from other sub-regions like CIS, the Türkiye, the Middle East, and Africa. This region is otherwise known as EMEA where all European teams and players will play alongside players and teams from those regions.
Expand your LEC predictions because the EMEA region has more talent now than ever before. Have fun with all of these options because this is an improved version of the circuit you got used to which happened in other regions like North America and South East Asia.

The format for the League of Legends EMEA Championship
Due to the rebrand, 10 teams were selected through franchising to compete in the League of Legends EMEA circuit. They are all part of a circuit that is now enriched with talent not only from teams in Western Europe but from the entire region too. Communities have always felt that that region was grossly under-appreciated which is why this EMEA wave has happened.
For the format, these are the factors you have to remember:
Three stages
Each EMEA LOL season is divided into three splits. Every split has a regular season that consists of three weeks of play, wherein each team plays each other once in a single-round-robin format.
- After the round-robin, the top eight teams move on to a double-elimination group stage.
- The top two teams of each group compete in a four-team double-elimination playoff bracket.
- The playoff stage rewards cash prizes and Championship Points. That is vital when determining the seeding for the season finals.
- The three split champions plus teams based on the Championship Points will compete in the season finals. That is another double-elimination bracket with the top four seeds qualifying for the upper bracket and having two chances to compete.
Qualification for MSI and Worlds
The two biggest events in League of Legends are the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and the World Championships. That is why the three Splits are important because they all lead up to both these events.
The Winter and Spring Split winners qualify for the MSI and the four best-performing teams in the Season Finals qualify for Worlds. These Splits should give you a good idea of what you need to observe if you want some avenues for your wagers.
All players that have residency status in EMEA can participate
LEC is one of the biggest circuits in the League of Legends esports space but it was not open to players who deserved the opportunity. In the past, players had to secure residency in Europe just to play in the LEC.
Just take a look at Riot Games’ other title, Valorant, where there are new players who have come from the EMEA and CIS scenes and proved their mettle like Patryk ‘starxo’ Kopczyński. At the same time, this can be seen with Dota 2 as well with players like Amer ‘Miracle-’ Al-Barkawi and Ammar ‘ATF’ Al-Assaf from Jordan.
As long as they have residency in the area that EMEA covers, they will be eligible to compete in this circuit. This has continued to improve everything that Riot wants to showcase because their game is popular worldwide, it should give opportunities to everyone who has shown love and passion for League.
Who are the participating League of Legends EMEA Championship teams?
There are 10 participating teams in the EMEA Championship which are all partnered. While there are no indications yet, it is likely this cast of teams will expand. Here are the partnered teams you can place your bets on or root for in the League of Legends EMEA tournament:

- Excel Esports
- Fnatic
- G2 Esports
- KOI
- MAD Lions
- SK Gaming

Riot Games wants to improve the esports scene
Riot has continued to be at the forefront of the esports industry. League is the world’s most popular esports title and they continue to improve the quality of their competitions because they are often expanding the player base.
Esports has captured the hearts of gamers worldwide because it has legitimised competitive gaming like never before. In the past, people only played games against each other for small bets or high scores.
Now, esports has become a legit industry filled with plenty of games and League of Legends serves as its top game. The space has some cool trends with competitive gameplay for every game but it still showcases the excitement when playing or watching the games.
