SEGA's new blockchain game on Oasys network
Popular Japanese video game company SEGA is looking for new ways to provide the best gaming experience for players. With the surge of crypto, gaming firms like SEGA are on the run to create high-quality games with the newest technology in the market.
SEGA is making a new entry in their classic line of beloved gaming gems with a blockchain game for the layer-2 Oasys network. Unlike Sonic the Hedgehog or the Yakuza franchise, this blockchain game will be a collectible card game.
Double Jump.Tokyo will lead the project and is expected to release on the Oasys HOME verse L2 network. SEGA is jumping on the hype similar industries like the Bitcoin casino games market is having right now.
At casino sites like Gamdom, it’s clear that the crypto market is booming with their huge success in the industry. Since the game is blockchain-based, cryptocurrency users can use their coins to play and have a great time just like when playing online casino games.

Big Gaming developers on blockchain technology
SEGA’s new blockchain game will be released on the Oasys network. It uses a gaming-optimised proof-of-stake protocol that offers high-speed and gas free experiences to gamers. This is achieved by collating the public layer-1 and 2 blockchains together to create the best tech solutions for the engine.
Director of the network Daiki Moriyama said the dream to create such a platform is to lead for more blockchain in the video game market. ‘We are honoured to be a pioneering partner in building a new generation of games with SEGA on the blockchain’, CEO of Double Jump.Tokyo Hironobu Ueno stated.
Oasys also supports other gaming firms like Square Enix, Ubifost, and Bandai Namco as their first validators for the tech. Also, Oasys director Ryo Matsubara spoke at the Tokyo Games Show earlier in September about the growth of blockchain games and their potential in this industry. He also stressed the importance of innovating the gaming world instead of porting older games to newer-generation hardware.
NFT and blockchain games’ continuous growth in the video game industry
Earlier in September 2022, CryptoPotato reported that Epic Games launched Blankos Block Party which makes it the first blockchain game on the company’s marketplace. This video game firm is behind the widely popular first-person-shooter Fortnite that raised $2 billion to pursue the Metaverse project.
On the other hand, leading blockchain gaming firm Splinterlands sold out its famous title Tower Defence pack during the pre-sale launch. These great stories are proof that the blockchain and gaming worlds are seeing a middle ground that can only benefit gamers in the long run.
It is also a good sign that blockchain and play-to-earn (P2E) games have exploded in popularity. Many gaming experts believe that this surge was hastened during the pandemic when lockdowns were rampant in 2020 and 2021.
Now, cryptocurrency-based games are getting more hype than ever. With the increase of growth in the Bitcoin casino games market, expect blockchain games to stick around longer. For more info and news about this, visit Gamdom to get the latest scoop on all things related to blockchain.
