NBA 2K video game and esports scene

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the top United States-based basketball league and it has collaborated with 2K Games to make the NBA 2K series. This is the centre of most eBasketball esports and the latest edition is the NBA 2K24.

It will soon be succeeded by NBA 2K25 on 6th September 2024 which will also carry the NBA 2K esports with it. For now, the esports scene is centred around the 2024 version which is available on the PlayStation 5 – the main console for the Valhalla League.

What is the Valhalla League?

The Valhalla League, organised by Drafted.gg, is a prominent league within the NBA 2K eBasketball scene. Semi-professional NBA 2K players worldwide are invited to play week-long sessions. The league runs from Monday to Sunday, with each day divided into morning, afternoon, evening, and night sessions, each lasting 5 to 7 hours.

Valhalla League betting features the names of the teams that are scheduled to play against each other as you can see on the bookmaker. The pro players drafted in the Valhalla League are operating those teams, alternating between each other.

After a game, one of the two players steps down for another to take the challenge. That player stays while the other one gets replaced by another in the next game. Each match lasts 30 minutes as the game speed is set to 50. Every quarter is 5 minutes long, including the intermission break between every match.

How to bet on Valhalla League

This Valhalla League betting guide will show you the different predictions you can make. They are similar to bets you can make in professional basketball with a few exceptions. In the Valhalla League, injuries and fatigues are turned off, as these are disabled settings in the NBA 2K24 for these matches. Thus, there are no bets for substitution in this esports game.

There is one clarification in eBasketball betting is how team names are displayed. Unlike professional basketball, you are not betting on a team. Instead, your stake is backing an individual pro-esports player operating those teams. The basketball team name is written first then the player piloting it is in a parenthesis.

In the examples below, they are written as follows:

• Los Angeles Lakers (Steel)
• Golden State Warriors (Shooter)

Match winner

Match winner focuses on predicting which of the two competing teams will win the game. Every match ends in 30 minutes and whoever has the highest total points emerges victorious. This bet resolves at the end of the match you can make only one prediction each.

Match quarter winner

Match quarter-winner betting is a scaled-down version of the match-winner bet. Instead of betting on the whole match, you are guessing the winner of each quarter of the game. That gives you a total of 4 chances to win cash prizes.

Match half winner

Match half-winner betting requires you to predict which team will have a higher total points from the first half of the game. That means the sum of their respective points from the first and second quarters. This bet resolves at the end of the second quarter. There’s typically no second-half winner market in a match so it’s just the first half.

Match total points

This betting option involves predicting whether the combined score from both sides will be over or under the arbitrary prediction stated on the market. There’s a +0.5 additional value to avoid an equal outcome. If the market says ‘match total points 161.5’, then a 161 total ends with under bets as the winner. This market resolves at the end of the match.

Match total points parity

Points parity is a 50/50 bet in eBasketball because there are only two possible outcomes with equal odds. You simply predict if the total points will be odds or even. The bet resolves at the end of the match when all points are tallied.

Gamdom odds in Valhalla League esports betting

Valhalla League betting in Gamdom uses familiar odds formats from other sports and esports. You have many options but all of them serve the same purpose of telling you how likely you are to win and how much you’ll gain on a winning bet. It also follows a risk-reward balance where riskier bets pay the bigger prize. Here’s how you calculate your payout from the odds:

• Decimal:
  • payout = the bet + (the odds x the bet)
• American:
  • payout = the bet x (100 / negative odds)
  • payout = the bet x (positive odds / 100)
• Hong Kong:
  • payout = your bet x the odds

Valhalla League betting tips for beginners

Betting on Valhalla League matches can be easy if you understand the game and the NBA professional league dynamics. If you’re new to this, here are some key tips to get you started:

Watch the live streams on Twitch or YouTube

Drafted.gg streams the Valhalla League on their official channels on Twitch and YouTube, two of the biggest live streaming platforms. You can tell who’s playing based on what is currently marked as ‘live’ in the Gamdom bookmaker so you can’t miss it. Bet as you watch and win cash live from in-play predictions.

Review the play-by-play chart in between games

Before the start of every game, the Valhalla League shows a chart of the upcoming match-ups. It has the data of their head-to-head history of who won and by how many points were reached over several weeks in the past. Be more confident in betting on the player who won more frequently and reliably than the other.

Consider exhaustion on long sessions

Some Valhalla League sessions can reach up to 6 or 7 hours. Sometimes, they can even go as far as 11 hours. This can lead to exhaustion in some players which can lead to poor performance. Look through their past games and see who has the best performance in games of endurance and place your bet on them during later sessions.
