Are There Ways to Earn Bitcoin Through CSGO?
With crypto on the rise once again, there are people asking if video games can be used as an avenue for it to happen. Counter Strike: Global Offensive is at the forefront of that. There are possible ways people can earn crypto like Bitcoin through CSGO.
Valve’s CSGO is one of the most popular games in the world. There are many aspects of the game that have made it popular including its gameplay. It has drawn people in for more than 20 years with some minor changes from time to time. However, it remains to be one of the most compelling games out there.
Of course, CSGO rose to prominence in the mid-2010s due to the free CSGO skins boom period. However, the gameplay was enough to convince players to join the community or even turn pro when they are good enough. CSGO has brought people together and it has helped people get skins or even money with the use of platforms that people can sell skins on.
Why video games are a good platform for earning crypto
Cryptocurrency, for those who do not know, is a digital currency. It does not have a physical form which means that it is all stored in a crypto wallet. You may not understand it at first but it is decentralized digital assets that keeps banks or third-party organizations from interfering with transactions. Bitcoin is the number one crypto in the world as it has breached the mainstream and while not everyone can understand it, they at least know about it.
This leads to a potential relationship between crypto and video games. There are already some projects that people have made to integrate crypto with video games through the blockchain. There are some game devs that are interested in creating systems where you can purchase in-game items with crypto coins available.
There is already a precedent to this as most big games in the market right now have micro-transactions. While those use your real money, it can easily be moved towards a crypto payment scheme just like fiat.
Imagine a marketplace like Steam where you can use your crypto to buy games or in-game items. Those are some of the concepts that have appeared in the past few years. Those are all good ideas but there were only a few people who really made projects that integrated crypto into video games.
You might have been able to see online that there are some online casinos that have already used crypto which is a sign of what’s to come for the video game industry as well. It is a good development that has tons of potential.
CSGO has its own crypto platform already
Valve’s premier first-person shooter is a well-known game and it has a large part of the player base that has shown interest in crypto integration. While Valve has not shown outright support, the servers can be used for the people who are interested.
This has led to bitcoin startup ZEBEDEE launching a platform that would help players earn bitcoins while they play CSGO. That is a game-changer for people but of course, you have to earn it through the game with good stats.
Players have to download ZEBEDEE’s desktop app to join their CSGO servers. The player will have to deposit bitcoin and then they can start playing. The bitcoin that they earn will be reliant on your in-game stats like frags and deaths. The cash out process is pretty simple as it can be done at any point in time.
ZEBEDEE’s CEO and co-founder Simon Cowell has talked about their feelings on a full launch.
He said, ‘The announcement of our Bitcoin integration with CSGO has resonated with gamers in a way I haven’t seen before in blockchain gaming. Waitlist sign-ups are already enough to keep our first 10 servers full, so we plan to expand capacity very soon. I have a good feeling that we’ve finally cracked the infiltration of crypto into mainstream gaming’.
Many people may ask why CSGO is the chosen game but if you look at the stats, you can see why. CSGO regularly reaches one million concurrent users around the world and having that kind of number is helpful for people who are interested in crypto.
There might be people who are not yet aware of the power of crypto and their friends can talk about ZEBEDEE to them as they look to improve their games and earn some bitcoins in the process. That is a good trade-off.
Cowell has also asserted that this will only be for the regular players. Pro players are good talents but if they join this platform, they might break the scale and ruin the game for the normal players.
Is there a bright future for CSGO and crypto?
There is surely a future between the two as it has potential. While ZEBEDEE is a good platform that has a future within the gaming industry, there are still loads of projects that can be built with CSGO and crypto.
Valve has not talked about crypto just yet but if they are able to integrate it into their game, you can expect an influx of players for CSGO. There might even be a chance that it will cross over to Dota 2 which is Valve’s other game.
People have looked at crypto as a bad asset in the past but with its growth and potential, there is no limit to what it can do for the gaming industry. It can continue to grow so that more people can be aware and it can have a healthy life as an asset equal to the fiat currency that we use today.
You might only be aware of free CSGO skins and its contributions to the growth of the game but when crypto is used it has more chances of growing so much bigger.
